How to install libreoffice 4 on ubuntu-12.04


The below tutorial will teach you how to install libreoffice 4 in ubuntu-12.04 desktop system.
Libreoffice has become one of the best and popular office suite in open source world.It is a very great alternate to Microsoft office.
Libreoffice has done many improvement in the spreadsheet to support all the formulas of microsoft excel and making more compatible with Microsoft excel files.Lots of bugs fixes in Libre-writer to suppport Docx file fully.We are going to install it via ppa of libreoffice.





For installing libreoffice 4 in ubuntu-12.04 do the following :-


1. Open the terminal and type:- 
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa




After adding, it will ask you for your password please enter the password. Then press Enter to add the repository in source list



2. Now update the repository so that it can add ppa in the source list and intialize the repository.


$ sudo apt-get update 





3. Now run the dist upgrade command to install it completely.






4. That's it you can check the libreoffice 4 installed after rebooting your system closed all spreadsheet and writer file .





As you can see in the above image libreoffice 4 is successfully installed.And whenever the new version releases it will automatically update it to the latest version with your normal update.Enjoy using libreoffice 4. Please do comment if you like it .
